Oh, I adore Gimp. I'm using it for a project at Villa K., and I think it is a nice and simple alternative to PhotoShop. I didn't know Acorn before, but looks like it's worth testing it ...

Kevin, that's a good question, and it seems to be quite a fundamental one, too. You might argue that it depends on your personality - do you brand your person? Does your website stand for the same thing you do stand for? How do you want to be perceived?
I for one use twitter to keep up with what's new, to interact with friends and create new interesting contacts with colleagues, so it is quite a random stream of messages which won't all be of interest to someone who is interested in getting more of the KC. Thus this experiment to separate out the website's own twitter account, with no distractions, no babbling, and a low frequency. (As this, still, is just a spare time deal...)
What do you think?

Kai, thanks for the positive feedback! I'm excited to see where that KC thing can go.
I'm using the Gimp (<a href="http://www.gimp.org)" target="_blank">http://www.gimp.org)</a> on my ThinkPad and Acorn (<a href="http://flyingmeat.com/acorn/)" target="_blank">http://flyingmeat.com/acorn/)</a> on my Mac for image editing.

Benjamin, you're right to mention RSS as the method of choice for blog updates only. I am not planning to substitute this site's RSS feed by any means. Giving the KC its own twitter account is an experiment to see if there is room for an enriched "bite-sized" stream to connect with its readers with more info than just the new posts. You got me thinking, though, that using the twitter account for update notifications only would be a waste of time, so I better think of some more useful things to post!

KC - we'll have to discuss how to best use Twitter. Still getting my groundings in terms of blending personal/professional topics as well - I don't want to update 2 Twitter accounts!

mh... I think the best way to announce blog-updates is using RSS-feeds... a thing that the KC-website was doing from the beginning. ;)

... the generation of RSS-feeds happens to be an automatic thing with most blogging-systems so for the 'blogger' it's even easier than using a 3rd-party-platform such as twitter... and as for the reader.... all (!) current browsers can track feed-information and there's a whole bunch of neat stand-alone feed-readers for a multitude of platforms (even my shabby old mobile has a RSS-feed reader integrated)

just my 2 cents. I'm not much into the whole twitter-hype myself, so... what do I know?! :)

A great idea! I think Twitter is the best way to announce updates on blogs or any other website - just ONE simple source and one doesn't have to check daily if there are any new updates on favourite pages. A look on Twitter suffices!

I like the changing logo and the idea of developing the letters "KC" into a ... brand!

Which graphic software do you use?
